Acknowledgements

This WHO guidance on TB surveillance was produced by a core team of 13 people: Annabel Baddeley, Kenza Bennani, Anna Dean, Dennis Falzon, Katherine Floyd, Philippe Glaziou, Giorgi Kuchukhidze, Marek Lalli, Fukushi Morishita, Linh Nhat Nguyen, Cicilia Gita Parwati, Charalambos Sismanidis and Hazim Timimi. The team was led by Charalambos Sismanidis, with overall guidance from Katherine Floyd.
The guidance is comprised of seven chapters and six web annexes.
Chapter 1 (Introduction) and Chapter 2 (Purpose, principles and scope) were written by Katherine Floyd and Charalambos Sismanidis. Chapter 3 (Definitions) was written by Charalambos Sismanidis, with contributions from several other members of the core team. The writing of Chapter 4 (Core indicators to report and use) was led by Katherine Floyd, Charalambos Sismanidis and Hazim Timimi, with contributions to content from all members of the core team. The writing of Chapter 5 (Core data items to collect) was led by Hazim Timimi, with contributions from several other members of the core team. Chapter 6 (Digital surveillance) was written by Charalambos Sismanidis, with contributions from Katherine Floyd and Hazim Timimi. Chapter 7 (Data quality assurance) was written by Charalambos Sismanidis, with contributions from Katherine Floyd and Hazim Timimi as well as Mathieu Bastard. All members of the core team participated in extensive discussions that informed the content of all chapters and provided reviews of advanced drafts that were essential to the finalization of their content.
The core team is grateful to the national programmes or agencies responsible for TB surveillance in Australia, Brazil, Georgia, Indonesia, Iran, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Africa, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (United Kingdom) and the United Republic of Tanzania for providing the country examples that are featured in Chapter 4, Chapter 6 and Chapter 7. Veronica Cristea (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) facilitated the development of the country examples from the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Members of the core team facilitated the development of six country examples: those for Georgia (Giorgi Kuchukhidze); Australia, Mongolia and the Philippines (Fukushi Morishita); and Iran and Pakistan (Kenza Bennani).
Web annexes A, B and F were prepared by Marek Lalli; Web Annex C by Peter Nguhiu; and web annexes D and E by Hazim Timimi. Web annexes D and E benefited from careful reviews and related suggestions provided by Cicilia Gita Parwati.
Beyond the core team, Medea Gegia, Avinash Kanchar, Fuad Mirzayev and Kerri Viney reviewed multiple drafts of Chapter 4 and Web Annex D, and participated in discussions that were essential to their finalization.
Charalambos Sismanidis and Cicilia Gita Parwati coordinated the production process (editing and graphic design), with contributions from Irwin Law.
